juicing organic vegetables at home is the best if you have a machine. beets and carrots are high in sugar.
celery, kale, tomatoes, spinach are low in carbs
v8 is high in salt.
friendly bacteria from soy yogurt or kefir reduces cravings for sugar.
ashley--the bacteria in soy yogurt or kefir (milk product) is good for your immune system. whether the bacteria from milk grosses you out is up to you.
Hey matty, were'nt you just ranting last night about bacteria in milk? But now you want someone to add bacteria with their juice? So as long as it's concerning vegetarian food bacteria is nice and healthy, but if it involves meat or dairy then it's unhealthy and evil.
That doesn't sound biased at all...
So you admit that you purposely contort the whole bacteria thing depending upon whether or not it supports your whole agenda. In the milk question you are using bacteria as an example to scare someone, but here it's okay because it's with vegetarian friendly food.
Typical vegetarian.
Vegetable juice is the way to go. V8 Splash only contains 10% juice. So it is not that great for you. Always check the ingredient list to make sure that your product is not filled with high fructose corn syrup ad sugar.
Most fruit juices have a LOT of sugar. If it (or a derivative of it) is in the top three ingredients, you might want to steer clear.
Even the low-sodium V8 has a lot of salt in it.
In order to bottle and sell juices, there are certain additives that are needed to safely package it. As it is processed, most of the nutrients are stripped from it.
Matt is correct - drinking juice from your juicer is the best bet - if you have access to it. If not, drinking the organic juices is a better option. I can tell you that no major brand name has good juices...you would need to go to a health food store or shop in the health food section for something that will work.
When I'm not using my juicer, I like Bolthouse Farms a LOT. Their drinks are yummy and chock full of nutrients. Be prepared to pay...but it's worth it.
Juice is high in sugar and therefore calories, no matter the brand. Your best bet is going to be diluting your juice with one part water.
v8 splash because you get your daily fruits and veggies and it lower in carbs and fat.
Any really. I love Spicy V8. If you're going to get the tomato juices. Get the low sodium too. I love the orange V8 Splash. It's great and has a lot of nutrition.
