Keeping Fit Question And Answer
How many sit-up's should you do a day to keep fit?
Looking to get myself into better shape, i eat cereal for brekky, a healthy softy (roll) for lunch and have a normal dinner, with light snacks at night.
Any suggestions on sit up numbers to get fit on this diet?

i would say about 200. it depends on how fat u r tho. if ur really fat do more if u can.
start off easy do like 20-30 morning and night or you may strain the muscles in your lower stomach like i did, then move up to 50 etc x
i usually do it while watching tv so it doesnt really seem hard to do
everytime comercials are on i do them until the show starts again
Sit ups and that diet won't get you anywhere with a fit, trim midsection. This site really helped me focus my workouts on developing my abs, and showed me what I was doing wrong with my diet.

Zero! Sit ups and crunches are a total waste of time and can hurt your back. There is no good reason to ever do them. If you want a six pack eat fruit and veggies and drink only water. If you want to burn fat then do push ups and run for 30 minute a day.
The only way I have ever managed to do sit ups in a way as to not cause damage, or pain to myself is by doing 3 sets of 10 sit ups to begin with, and then just gradually increase them, over a week, then you should be able to manage 100 by the end of the week.
I do not know how others do them but at this point I tend to do 20 then move on to another exercise, then do another 20 and so on, or else you will put too much strain on your body, and it will hurt like hell the day after.

5000 a day your having a laugh aint ya...who does that many sits ups,just silly and un realistic..
I would say depending on your fitness level start off with doin 3 sets of ten. then 5 sets and keep increasing.or start higher if you can.see how many times can repeat your sets during day,e.g maybe do a set when the adverts come on etc.you have to start somewhere so dnt go rushing in thinkin goin to do 200 a day.
As well as sit ups tryin doin cardio work,if you are tryin to lose weight although your doin sit ups and you will be tonning your stomach you will still have to work off the belly first if you have one.

cardio is key if you need to lose weight toning should come naturally later but aim to do as many as you can as slowly and controlled as you can then push yourself to do 5 more when you really dont think you can its different for everyone!
